Every two years, something extraordinary happens in the watch industry — companies come together in support of a charity, developing unique timepieces to be auctioned off, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the Association Monégasque Contre Les Myopathies.
Only Watch is an auction event that happens every two years, founded and organized by Luc Pettavino, with 100% of proceeds going to fund the search for therapeutic solutions for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a condition that afflicted Pettavino’s son, Paul, who passed away in November 2016 at the age of 21.
“What I like about Only Watch is to take my pilgrim stick and start the journey to meet men and women in charge of the most outstanding watch brands in the world,” says Pettavino. “Kindness and creativity are the main two words qualifying those fruitful, pleasant talks and the exchange of positive energy.
“For 2017, with these 50 extraordinary lots and these great collaborations and experiences, with the 10 fantastic stopovers of the collection, the partnering with Christie’s, I again feel excited and proud for all of us, not only because I know we will be able to raise millions again for research, but I also see all this is done with great respect and happiness. Only Watch is a little but bright light proving we can simply come together and move mountains with no contract whatsoever. And for that we should be thankful.”
This year’s auction will take place in Geneva on November 11 (2:30 pm Geneva time), and 50 watchmakers are taking part. For the 2015 edition, the sale of 44 watches garnered more than $11 million, so expectations are high for this year’s edition.
Only Watch is a watch collector’s dream, a chance to buy something truly out of the ordinary and unique, while at the same time helping children in need.
