Baume & Mercier

On The Track With Shelby

Share

Baume & Mercier is currently with friends and media, close to the brand, on the Paul Ricard Circuit in, Le Castellet for a hissing good time.

The brand has managed to gather 30 original Shelby cars – including  Cobra 289s and 427s, Cobra Daytona Coupés, Ford GT40s and Shelby Mustangs GT350s – for what is gearing up to look like a gathering of a lifetime.

And guests invited to the event are being treated to a taste of racing – 60s style, including a Le Mans style flag off. Don’t turn too green with envy just yet, after all none of the guests are actually getting to drive these beauties – you see, flight risk is at an all-time high on the track right now.

Guests are simply getting taxi rides in these original Shelby cars on the famed race track that once hosted the French F1 Grand Prix. Not too shabby at all.

But all the fun aside the real purpose behind the event is really to honor four legendary drivers from the original Shelby American team: Dan Gurney, Ken Miles, Allen Grant and Dave McDonald.

And, of course, this being a Baume & Mercier event, in true Swiss style – four limited edition Capeland Shelby® Cobra watches are being unveiled, each dedicated to one of the four honorees, with the specific driver’s race number printed on the watch’s running second subdial at 9 o’clock.
