Cartier’s Time Art exhibition has arrived in Shanghai. After the show at the Bellerive Museum in Zurich in 2011 and at the ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands, in Singapore in 2012, Time Art is back in Asia with a new exhibition of remarkable vintage watches and clocks.

From ‘La Maison’s’ own private collection, plus the two revolutionary timepieces: the visionary concept models, Cartier ID-One and Cartier ID-Two. These watches illustrate an openness to the future that characterises Cartier and are amazing prototypes that are developed for research only and that will never go on sale. Of course there is a selection of watches from the ‘Fine Watch Making Collection’ on display; the best time pieces that Cartier is offering today, all with In House developed calibers.

In this stylistic and technical journey, one theme is present throughout all the periods of Cartier history: the spirit of freedom and daring that drives all those involved in the creative process at Cartier, from concept designers to craftsmen. This spirit has been captured in the exhibition’s scenography, designed by Tokujin Yoshioka, who was awarded the Design of the Year prize by A&W Architektur & Wohnen magazine in 2011.

He had already given his unique look to the Cartier Collection in 2009 with the Story of… Memories of Cartier Creations, a noteworthy exhibition in which the designer was inspired by the evocative power of the Collection’s precious objects. And of course both ‘Time Art’ Exhibitions in Zürich and Singapore.

Mr.Stanislas de Querciz, CEO of Cartier International opened the exposition last week and the ceremony was, as usual, attended by many National and International celebrities.

While the name of the exposition, Time Art, is the same as in Zurich and Singapore, the pieces on display now in Shanghai differ slightly from the first two expositions; it is for instance the first time that the ID-TWO will be shown.
