Commemorating the Cubs
To commemorate the Cubs’ historic victory, Vortic has created the Chicago World Champions Edition, a gift set consisting of a unique timepiece and a one of a kind Hooligan Pen.
This watch is powered by an original, restored Elgin movement from 1907/1908 (the years of the Cubs’ only other World Series victories).
Available in two sizes (51mm or 46mm), this watch is available in a variety of case colors, hardware options and strap choices, and includes individual design consultation with one of Vortic’s founders. The strap on this incredible piece of history is hand-made and cut from a vintage baseball glove.
“We found antique pocket watch movements and dials originally made 108 years ago by Elgin, just outside Chicago,” RT Custer, co-founder of Vortic, explains. “We salvaged and restored those pieces of Illinois history, built the last time the Cubs won the series, and paired them with cutting edge technology (our 3D printed titanium cases) to make 10, one of a kind watches. Then we found Tim Cullen, who just happened to have original seat backs from Wrigley field. He incorporated wood from those seat backs into a set of 10 unique fountain pens that are museum pieces on their own. This gift set is special, because it just aligns so well with what we do. Every watch we build is completely one of a kind and customers already call them pieces of art, and we’re in multiple museums due to our celebration of American watchmaking history.”
These special and historic gift sets (four in the 50mm size and six in the 46mm size) retail for $4,995.00.
