Corum and Didier Cuche push the boat out

Revolution Switzerland’s team joined Corum ambassador and world champion skier, Didier Cuche, recently to celebrate the launch of a new catamaran for the Just for Smiles Foundation. This unique vessel has been specially-equipped to take disabled children and young adults on sailing experiences across Switzerland’s Lake Neuchâtel.

A human hoist makes it possible to take the apprentice sailors from the shore to the boat, where they have the option of being seated in a specially-adapted seat or having their wheelchair securely attached to the boat. Out on the waves, each person can experience the sounds and motions of crossing the lake’s waters at speed, and for those who can actively participate, a hammock enables them to lean out over the net for an even more exhilarating experience.

The catamaran and its adaptation were made possible by the huge fund-raising activities of the Neuchâtel Lions Club who, together with Corum and several sponsors, helped raise the 100,000 Swiss francs needed to make this dream come true. Revolution caught up with Didier Cuche (wearing a rather sexy Corum Admirals Cup AC1 Chrono) after the boat launch. “This is a long term project that has taken a long time to realize, but the dream can now be given to these children,” he shared with a smile.
