Favre-Leuba: A New Raider Bivouac 9000 Anniversary Piece

To celebrate its 282nd anniversary today, Favre-Leuba is introducing a brand new black version of its standout Raider Bivouac 9000 timepiece, complete with a RECCO® reflector strap.

The Raider Bivouac 9000, introduced in 2017, is the first mechanical wristwatch capable of measuring altitudes of up to 9,000 meters above sea level. The Kevlar strap features an integrated RECCO® reflector specifically designed to help save lives. RECCO® technology was developed to search for missing or buried avalanche victims and is used by mountain rescue teams across the globe. The reflectors, which operate without a separate power supply, are located by search devices and are therefore a vital addition to avalanche transceivers.

Favre-Leuba is all about useful additions and the addition of RECCO technology makes great sense on a watch designed to go the greatest heights.

“Favre-Leuba, the second oldest Swiss brand, is celebrating its 282nd year this week and it is a very special occasion for us,” says Vijesh Rajan, business head, Favre-Leuba in an exclusive interview with Revolution.Watch. “We mark this milestone with the launch of an exciting new version of our flagship, award-winning Raider Bivouac 9000 – now in an all-black version that is also equipped with a special RECCO strap. The adaptation of black dial and red hands in the new Bivouac makes for a stunning, visual treat, which will truly fascinate watch enthusiasts around the world.”

Favre-Leuba is an intriguing brand, combining unparalleled heritage with innovation in “tool” watches. With the strong backing of the Tata Group, the brand is perfectly positioned for the future.

“Favre-Leuba has a unique combination of being the second oldest historic Swiss brand with a great lineage, and the strong backing of a global conglomerate, which gives us a strength to be reckoned with,” Rajan says. “The response we have gotten from Asia, Middle East and our home market, Switzerland, has been very positive. Apart from the new Black Bivouac, we have around 50 new references lined up along with a wide range of exciting marketing ideas all-round the year. We believe that 2019 will also be a fantastic year for this legendary brand.”
