Five to Watch at The Open at Royal Birkdale (And Their Watches)

Dustin Johnson

If you’re a golf fan, there is nothing quite like a major weekend. Those quite afternoons with an iced coffee in hand, watching the world’s best jostle for position in preparation for a showdown on the Sunday. Many won’t understand your passion, some will say it’s boring, some will even point and call you a loner – don’t whatever you do listen them.

The Open this year is coming at you from a blustery Royal Birkdale for the 146th time. No golfer from Great Britain or Northern Ireland has ever won The Open at Royal Birkdale.

In nine previous Open Championships on the Southport links, stretching back to 1954, there have been two Australian winners, five Americans and an Irishman. Here are a few guys to watch out for – and of course their watches.
