One of Bremont’s most memorable models of recent times was the U2-51/JET, a blacked-out model that graced Tom Hardy’s wrist in Venom. And while this watch is sure to make headlines on Hardy’s wrist in the upcoming Venom sequel, the sinister superhero wasn’t the inspiration for this blacked-out chronograph, the ALT1-P2 JET.
Bremont — one of the quintessential aviation-inspired brands has looked once more to the skies for the thematic impetus for the ALT1-P2 JET, and found it in an … odd place. Gravity Industries, founded by Richard Browning. Gravity Industries makes the Gravity Jet Suit, which is what you get when you strap a bunch of miniature kerosene-powered jet engines onto your body, using your arms to steer. And while it might be too early to tell whether or not this bold new frontier of manned flight is the future or merely an amusing oddity, it’s certainly the sort of British-born oddity that Bremont has a history of getting behind, and perhaps the most forward-looking design in Bremont’s arsenal is the ALT1 Chronograph.
So Bremont has taken that base and doubled down with the ALT1-P2 JET, a dark take on the brand’s popular chronograph: that old radium-look lume (which Bremont refers to as ’51 lume’) pairs with Bremont’s tough case — 43mm of steel using Bremont’s Trip-Tick design — to create a look that comes across as modern and clean. The 16mm thick watch is powered by the BE-53AE automatic chronograph movement, but you might have a bit of an effort making it out — as it is obscured behind a smoky sapphire caseback. As for attaching it to your wrist, you’ve got two options, a black vintage leather strap or a DLC bracelet.
While you might not be bold enough to strap into a rocket suit, there’s no reason to fear the dramatic looks of the ALT1-P2 JET.
