Introducing the AP Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph, The Hour Glass Commemorative Edition

The Hour Glass, one of our oldest friends and partners in the industry, is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. And, needless to say, the Singapore based retailer has some epic announcements and launches planned to mark this special year. Starting with, of all the things we could’ve wished for, a Royal Oak.

In fact, The Hour Glass has already kicked things off with several video interviews that were published on their YouTube channel, featuring some remarkable names from the industry, both veteran and novice. Interviews with titans the likes of the one and only Jean-Claude Biver and new kids on the block such as Rexhep Rexhepi, the inspiring watchmaker behind Akrivia.

We’re very proud to be able to say that our very own founding editor, Wei Koh has been the subject of one of these interview videos. You can watch that episode, here.

But today, marks the day that The Hour Glass is announcing the first of a series of timepieces that mark their 40th anniversary, and it’s a doozy. Meet the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph, The Hour Glass Commemorative Edition.

This isn’t the first time that a Royal Oak has donned The Hour Glass Colors. Most recently, we’ve been privy to the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Extra-Thin The Hour Glass Limited Edition (50 pieces) and then the Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon Chronograph in 18-carat yellow gold that was created in dedication to The Hour Glass (5 pieces).

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph, The Hour Glass Commemorative Edition is a rendition of the chronograph variation of the Royal Oak that we’re most familiar with. This particular version, though, is a 41mm platinum piece fitted onto a platinum bracelet.

The “Grande Tapisserie” dial of the watch is rendered in The Hour Glass’ signature green with its tri-compax subsidiary dials in a yellow-gold hue. Thereafter, yellow gold hour markers and Royal Oak hands make for a legible timepiece, even with all of the extravagance.

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph, The Hour Glass Commemorative Edition will be made in a limited edition of just 20 pieces. For enquires reach out to The Hour Glass on their Instagram page via Direct Message, here.
