The Sinn Bundeswehr is a particularly special watch for us here at Revolution. Because as you may or may not know, when the opportunity came for us to collaborate with the German watchmaker, it is the story of this watch that we chose to build upon.
If you’d like to know more about the history of the Sinn Bundeswehr — or just “Bund” as it’s been nicknamed by #WatchFam — check out the in-depth article Revolution’s founding editor, Wei Koh wrote when we launched the Sinn x The Rake & Revolution 155 Bundeswehr “Dark Star”, here.
Besides just the history of it, Wei also explains the various, and very small amount, of reincarnations of the watch that were made in the 1980s and 1990s, and how since then, these watches have gone on to become cult collectibles that demand sizeable asking prices. For now, we focus on the watch at hand, the newly announced Sinn 158 Pilot Chronograph.
Sinn 158 Pilot Chronograph
The 158 features a bead blasted 43mm stainless steel case fitted with a pilot’s bezel in anodized aluminum. Set underneath the domed acrylic glass, you have a spacious dial adorned with large luminescent Arabic numerals, which pair with the luminescent hour and minute hands.
The bi-compax dial layout, gives you the running seconds at 9 o’clock while the central chronograph seconds hand has its 30-minute totalizer set at 3 o’clock.
At 6 o’clock, a small date aperture, which no doubt, is a subject of some difference in opinion. To understand how we feel about the date window, you’ll have to check out the earlier mentioned Dark Star.
The Sinn 158 Pilot Chronograph will be produced in a limited run of just 500 as numbered pieces.
