Cakes and diamonds have filled my day as the guest of Jaeger-LeCoultre at the brand’s stunning Parisian boutique. It is here that the Swiss press has gathered to discover a large selection of the grande maison’s incredible jewelry timepieces.

It is rare that we get the chance to see these pieces in the flesh as they aren’t generally presented during the SIHH, and the only other time we might get a glimpse is on the wrist of Diane Kruger, actress and ambassador to the brand, at the Venice Film Festival.

So what a pleasure it was to try all of these wonderful creations on over tea and cakes in the City of Love. I was surprised to learn that Jaeger-LeCoultre has 40 jewelers and gem-setters working on these creations in its manufacture in Le Sentier—who knew?

My favorite pieces of the day—and it was difficult to choose—were the Rendez-Vous Toubillon Haute Joaillerie and the Reverso Duetto Classique Haute Joaillerie. The Rendez-Vous Tourbillon Haute Joaillerie is fully-set with 547 diamonds that really showcase the expertise of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s gem-setters. The dial is a masterpiece in itself with its mix of grain and rock settings that have been crafted on numerous levels. Add to this the famous Jaeger-LeCoultre Caliber 978 tourbillon movement and the result is truly stunning.

On a simpler note, but no less beautiful, the Reverso Duetto Classique Haute Joaillerie continues to attest to the talents of the brand’s master craftsman with a dial that has an asymmetrical setting of diamonds that draws the eye into its sparkle.

All in all a rocking day (pun intended) seeing 11 beautiful timepieces, with exactly 7,396 diamonds (Christine Giotto, the brand’s Swiss PR Manager was kind enough to count them for me) and eating lots of fancy French cakes…it doesn’t get much better than this!

More to come in our September issue which will feature our first women’s supplement.
