Join Tudor USA Brand Manager Russell Kelly to Raise Funds for Every Mother Counts

On March 1, Tudor USA Brand Manager Russell Kelley will run the Kilimanjaro Marathon alongside Christy Turlington Burns, ultramarathoners Scott and Jenny Jurek, and a team of friends and supporters of Every Mother Counts.

Every 2 minutes, a woman dies in childbirth, and nearly all of these deaths are preventable. Every Mother Counts is a non-profit organization dedicated to making pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother. The organization engages and mobilizes new audiences to take action and to raise funds that support maternal health programs around the world.

Russell’s team will travel to Kilimanjaro, where they will have the opportunity to visit some of the programs that Every Mother Counts is supporting. Their participation will increase awareness of the fact that millions of pregnant women live far from needed health services. The race symbolizes the fact that too often, distance is the biggest barrier to a woman and her child receiving the care they need.

The race location also has special significance to Every Mother Counts. In June of 2009, a small film crew traveled to Tanzania to document the barriers facing millions women living in Sub-Saharan Africa when they need critical maternal healthcare. Their documentary, “No Woman, No Cry”, brings to life the personal stories behind the statistics.
