Lamborghini & Roger Dubuis Go Bucherer Blue

For the first time since the Bucherer Blue Editions were released in 2016, the Swiss retail giant gathered the entire Bucherer Blue Edition family under one roof at Zurich Airport for a pop-up event, which will remain on display until the 6th of January, 2019. To celebrate the past Blue Edition pieces, Bucherer unveiled two new timepieces created in partnership with Roger Dubuis, as well as a special Lamborghini Aventador S Blue Edition sports car, which roared away in the middle of the departure gates at the airport.

To Patrick Graf, Chief Commercial Officer of Bucherer, working with Roger Dubuis on the Blue Editions was an easy task: “Roger Dubuis really stands for being one of the most disruptive watch brands, therefore I think they meet with our vision and ideals of building up a kind of disruptive platform with the Blue Editions,” he explains. “The Blue Edition is not just about tradition; it’s like a playground. It’s not about retro, it’s about the future. It’s also why we chose Lamborghini as a car—it’s a very modern car and brand, the design is very futuristic. And Roger Dubuis really understood, from the very first second, our intention behind the Blue Edition family.”

The first watch is the Excalibur 42 Automatic Blue Edition, featuring a sunburst dial in the signature Bucherer blue, and is limited to 30 pieces. The second Roger Dubuis Blue Edition is the Excalibur Aventador S, created as an homage to the watch brand’s partnership with Lamborghini Squadra Corse. Inspired by the Lamborghini Aventador S V12 engine, the watch features five patents, including the specific position of the movement’s balance wheels. Rotated at 45 degrees and positioned in a V-shape, they resemble the pistons in the 12-cylinder Lambo engine.

This unique Lamborghini Aventador S Blue Edition unveiled during the pop-up is, without a doubt, the definition of sleek design. Taking the classic design codes from the Aventador S that Lamborghini fans love, the car also got the Bucherer Blue treatment, with the experts at the Lamborghini factory in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy, developing the unique “Blu Kairos” matt shade that gives this one-of-a-kind car its outstanding look. Alexandre Baudouin, Regional Brand Director for Roger Dubuis, details: “We wanted the car to be unique, so you have to have a unique color and we spent months on it. We called it “Blu Kairos”, which is inspired by a Greek god, who was more or less the God of Time.” Designed to match the Roger Dubuis Excalibur Aventador S, this Lamborghini is available at Lamborghini Zurich for CHF 600,600.

Baudouin says that the love of cars and watches went hand in hand with Bucherer and Lamborghini: “It was a great experience doing this with Bucherer. At the end of the day, nobody needs a Lamborghini to drive from point A to point B. For a watch, you can just check the time on your phone. So, it’s all about passion and craftsmanship; it’s a perfect fit. When everyone is passionate about the same things around the table, it’s very easy to develop a relationship.”

With more unique projects to come in the new year, as promised by Graf during his welcome speech at the event, we at Revolution cannot wait to see what’s next—our money’s on a plane, but who knows?
