Make Your Own Watch in Vegas

Share

The American Watchmakers-Clockmakers Institute (AWCI) will be hosting two “Build a Watch” classes in Las Vegas during the American watch shows, on June 3rd and 4th, 2018. These six-hour classes are an introduction to watchmaking, where students will learn about proper lubrication, adjustments, servicing, timing, and regulation as they assemble their own movement and watch.

Using a disassembled Swiss ETA 6497 movement, students will do every step of assembly, and at the end will be able to take their finished mechanical watch home.

It’s very rare to have the opportunity to do this outside of a watchmaking school, and the class is open to the public. Perfect for watch collectors, enthusiasts, and watch and jewelry store staff and salespeople, this AWCI class allows you to be a watchmaker for a day and learn much more about watches in general.

AWCI will be holding the “Build a Watch” classes held at the Vdara Hotel & Spa in Las Vegas on June 3rd from 4pm-10pm and June 4th from 11am-5pm.  The cost of the class is $1,295, including the watch. To register, please go to awci.com/vegaswatch.

Quotes from previous students:

“I’m definitely leaving with a higher appreciation for watches and watchmakers,”

David Antonacci, Watch Enthusiast

“There is a high barrier for entry in the watchmaking industry, and I feel like AWCI does a great job of encouraging and supporting everyone in class at every skill level.”

-Karen Wood, Jewelry Shop Manager
