In an update to 2015’s e-Strap, Montblanc has announced the follow-up iOS compatible Twin Smart Strap.

In stores from August and with a starting RSP of €390, the Twin Smart Strap is once again a watch strap with an under-wrist ‘smart module’ designed to be worn behind a conventional topside-of-the-wrist watch head. But, builds on the success of the e-Strap’s formula with a host of new features and options.

Controlled by two buttons on the module, features include: the new Montblanc Pay contactless digital wallet (developed in partnership with Visa and MasterCard), bluetooth connectivity, a daily activity tracker, and iPhone-synched notification alerts (both vibration and LED light array display).

The module itself is a sleek combination of polished stainless steel and SR+ Glass, ergonomically curved to hug the wrist, which also neatly doubles up as a clasp for the strap. It is water resistant to an IP68 rating and boasts a battery life of up to one week off a single charge.

The strap, on the other hand, is built off a sturdy rubber base and available in either 20 or 22mm lug width and with a choice of four ‘upper’ options; black calf leather, vintage brown calf leather, black nylon, or black and grey striped nylon.
