Motorcycle Madness: Cvstos Challenge Dani Pedrosa Limited Edition

Share

Following the recent partnership between Cvstos and Spanish MotoGP racer Dani Pedrosa, the Swiss watchmaker introduced a unique timepiece influenced by the dynamic and thrilling motorcycling world. Revolution Switzerland recently met with Cvstos CEO Sassoun Sirmakes and Chief Designer Antonio Terranova to discover the Challenge Dani Pedrosa Limited Edition and bring you a full report on this new sporty chronograph.

Cvstos Challenge Dani Pedrosa Limited Edition

Every inch of the Challenge Dani Pedrosa Limited Edition recalls the motorcycling universe and Pedrosa’s accomplishments as World Vice Champion of the sport. This lightweight timepiece was in fact inspired by the colors, shapes and materials of Pedrosa’s own Honda Repsol motorcycle.

Many of the watch’s design elements and materials were taken from the racing world, such as the screw-down polished titanium crowns, which were designed to represent a bike’s flywheel, and the vents on the left-hand side of the case that recall the air intakes of a motorcycle. Even the 42-hour power reserve echoes the sport—featured at three o’ clock, the indicator stands as a replica of a fuel gauge.

The new Challenge pays tribute not only to the sport but also to Pedrosa, with the racing star’s logo engraved on a plate at nine o’ clock. His lucky number 26 appears throughout the watch, from the side of the case to the date counter displayed in red on the 26th of each month.

Available in an orange or grey version, the  53.70 x 41mm case integrates two materials taken straight from a motorbike’s construction—titanium and aluminum. Anti-corrosive and heat-resistant, titanium is used to construct a bike’s turbines, while aluminum can be found in the frame and body, making them the ideal materials to incorporate into a motorcycling watch meant to resist all dangers of the road.

Entirely assembled and decorated in Cvstos’ Geneva-based workshop, the Cvstos 577 Automatic chronograph movement beats at the heart of the timepiece and can be admired through the transparent dial. Simply turn the watch around and you’ll get to see the jeweled oscillating weight and its rotor crafted out of tungsten and titanium, which also evokes motorsports as it was designed as a bike’s rims.

The result is so striking that even Honda went crazy over the brand’s innovative design philosophy. To show their support for the brand, the motorcycle maker is showcasing five different Cvstos timepieces at the Honda Centre in Geneva’s Charmilles neighborhood. So if you’re dreaming about owning a cool new Honda motorcycle, a Challenge Dani Pedrosa Limited Edition, or even both, Geneva is definitely the place to be!
