We apologize for bringing you this after the New Year’s come and gone, but faithful Revolution Online readers now know we’ve been laboring in a good cause –bringing you our new, updated site. We do want to share with you a wonderful time we had co-hosting an event celebrating the watchmaking of Blancpain, with Adam Bossi, President of Blancpain USA, at the flagship Madison Avenue Boutique in New York in late December
Despite the holiday rush many collectors and watch lovers joined us, to hear Adam talk about Blancpain watches, what makes them special, and especially to take advantage of his expertise –the Chinese Calendar watch, for instance, tracks the vagaries of one of the most complicated calendar systems in the world (multiple luni-solar cycles rolling in and out of phase with each other) but Adam’s got you covered. He (and the boutique staff) can make the various functions and purposes of one of the most complex and interesting calendar watches ever built clearly understandable in mere minutes. It’s not just for the Chinese market –anyone interested in ingenious calendars and complications should stop by the boutique and have a look. (To pick just one example, the Chinese calendar has a leap month, faithfully tracked by the Villeret Chinese Calendar.)
What do we love about Blancpain watches? They’re different –there’s always something distinctively idiosyncratic about Blancpain watches, no matter how simple or complex.
And although Blancpain’s famous for its extra thin watches (especially complications) a lucky raffle winner walked away with the biggest Blancpain we’ve ever seen. Hope she doesn’t try it on the wrist!
