The Geneva Watch Weekend is ostensibly about the watches in the auctions; the previews, auctions and not forgetting the Friday evening cocktail parties. The weekend is so much more than that though and is equally all about meeting up with old friend and making new ones. And the one thing everybody has in common? Watches – a deep love of watches. One of my favourite pastimes at these events is to check out what people are wearing and so we thought it would be fun to share a selection in the first of Ross’s Wrist Round-Ups.
So let’s kick off what I was wearing. I have two main holological hankerings that are pretty much at opposite ends of the spectrum…battered old Tudor Military Submariners and modern Daytonas with interesting dials. So for most of the weekend I was enjoying a white gold Daytona reference 116519 with Tahition mother of pearl. The dial has a rainbow of colours with heavy purples and green being prevalent. I had Italian master strap-maker Jean-Paul Menicucci make me a purple suede strap that picks the colour out beautifully:
And then I also enjoyed this original owner Tudor Snowflake Submariner. Reference 7016 with a rare Swiss-only dial. Check out the case profile:
