Editor’s Note: This year, instead of making out wish lists, the Revolution editorial team played secret Santa to one another. Here’s what Switzerland Editor-in-Chief, Sophie Furley dreamt up for Hong Kong Editorial Director, Sean Li when she picked his name out of the hat.
I was delighted to have picked Revolution Hong Kong’s Sean Li out of the hat for our Secret Santa mission, but as Sean lives 5,917 miles away from Switzerland and we only get to meet for fleeting moments during the Swiss watch fairs, he was probably one of the most challenging editors to choose for.
I decided to start by doing some research. I took a sneak peak at his social-media accounts to see if I could find a theme, and there between the most gorgeous dog photos I have ever seen, were a number of stunning timepieces, the vast majority of which featured a steel or white-gold case and a black dial combination. I also know that Sean is a car enthusiast so that has influenced my selection slightly too.
So Sean, I hope you won’t be disappointed with my choices.
My first choice for Sean is an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph, which is one of my favorite men’s watches as I just love the Grande Tapisserie dials. There are a number of different models to choose from and I hesitated between the black dial version and this attractive blue-and-gray dial combination in titanium with a platinum bezel and links.
My next choice is the Richard Mille RM 50-02 ACJ as Sean is a big automobile fan, like the company’s eponymous founder. He is also French, so I am hoping some affiliation with the company’s origins may swing in my favor. A collaboration with Airbus Corporate Jets, this piece is a tourbillon split-seconds chronograph in a titanium-aluminum case.
Last but not least, I have chosen something a little more classic for more formal occasions — the A. Lange & Söhne Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase “Lumen”, with a black dial, stunning luminous big date and moonphase.
