The “baguette” isn’t some fancy way of calling french bread loaves, to the mechanically inclined, it is the namesake of the oblong shape of baguette movements. Though the concept was first introduced in 1929 care of Jaeger-LeCoulture caliber 101, it was Corum who recently brought the movement back into popular consciousness thanks to a patent acquired from one self-taught watchmaking creative genius- Vincent Calabrese.

A movement with linear gear trains, mounted within a transparent exterior and isolated in space without any visible connection.

When this tour de force was first rewarded at the Geneva International Inventors’ Show in 1977, the ingenious mechanism for the single crown winding and time-setting system (thanks to the barrel arbor) caught the attention of another creative genius- Rene Bannwart, founder of Corum.

When launched in 1980 with front and rear sapphire crystals, the exposed hand-engraved baguette movement in the Golden Bridge was a hit with the collectors and today, 30 years later- a partnership is born. In essence, the partnership provides more than a platform of promotion for the Golden Bridge but also a special spokesperson courtesy of the inventor of the movement.
