The Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie, or simply called SIHH, with 16 exhibitors this year, opened today its doors. The REVOLUTION team is of course well represented, as Adi Soon mentioned earlier and we will report from or right after the show.

Cartier, occupying an entire hall, is presenting a selection of 8 new models in the Fine Watch Making Collection of which five have a completely new caliber, (one in collaboration with Renaud-Papi) plus various new models in the main stream collection, that I have not seen yet, but I hope to report about these models in later stage.

ROTONDE DE CARTIER PERPETUAL ASTRO CALENDAR
This is the top model from the Fine Watch Making Collection. Cartier moved away from traditional displays and created a new solution with a three level display, almost like an arena.

The completely new developed caliber 9459MC, bearing the Geneva Seal, is housed in 45mm platinum Rotonde case and will be produced, in a limited edition of just 100 pieces. Jack Forster did a very extensive report about the technical part of this amazing watch, that you can find HERE!

ROTONDE DE CARTIER EARTH & MOON
With case dimensions of 47mm the ‘Moon Phase On Demand’ is a tad larger. The newly developed automatic caliber, the 9940MC, with 3 day power reserve, is one of the 5 new calibers that are presented this week.

The Rotonde Earth & Moon, combines a regular time display with three complications; a moon phase indicator, second timezone and tourbillon. Stunning watch where Cartier grabbed back in history and used Lapis Lazuli for the dial, covered by the platinum grid with numerals and second time zone.

ROTONDE DE CARTIER DAY & NIGHT – 9912MC Cartier improved the legendary Rotonde Day & Night from 2006 and presents a new version, that technically goes a step further, with a ‘New Moon – Full Moon’ Retrograde movement.

This also newly developed automatic 9912 MC caliber, based on the 1904MC caliber, has 48 hour power reserve. The model comes in palladium or in pink gold.

TANK LOUIS CARTIER SAPPHIRE SKELETON
In 2004 Cartier presented a skeleton Tank Louis Cartier, the Tank Louis Cartier Noctambule, with classic dimensions. Now 10 years later, La Maison shows its new sapphire crystal version of the Tank Louis Cartier, in a white gold and a larger case, measuring 30 x 39.2mm.

The mechanical manual winding 9616 MC caliber, that visually seems to float in its case, has a power reserve of three days. A full description of the watch will be up in the coming weeks. Great looking watch with a really cool wrist presence also due to its larger dimensions.

TANK MC TWO TONE SKELETON
The Tank MC skeleton was presented last Summer in palladium and now steels the show in a stunning two tone, dark grey/pink gold version. The bridges are finished with a dark grey, satin ruthenium finish, while the angled sides are polished pink gold. The mechanical, manual caliber 9619 MC has a power reserve of three days.

BALLON BLEU FLYING TOURBILLON
The Ballon Bleu Flying Tourbillon was originally the first model that started the Fine Watch Making Collection in 2008. For 2014 the Ballon Bleu is presented with the traditional open worked dial, like the original, or with the stunning Blue enamel handmade guilloche dial.

While originally presented as a large 46mm Ballon Bleu model, these new models are now housed in a very attractive 39mm case. The Geneva Seal 9452 MC caliber has 50 hours of power reserve.

ROTONDE DE CARTIER TOURBILLON CHRONOGRAPH

The 9438 MC caliber was done by Renaud & Papi and is the only caliber in the 2014 Fine Watch Making collection, that is not 100% made In House. The watch will be produced in a limited edition of 50 pieces.

ROTONDE DE CARTIER 40mm / DATE
What can we say about this handsome men’s dress watch, besides the fact that I am very pleased that Cartier still releases, simple time only watches too. With classic dimensions of just 40mm, this smart Rotonde de Cartier is a winner and will certainly find its way to the more elegant fashionable men.
