SIHH 2015: His and Hers at Piaget

At this year’s SIHH, Piaget unveiled a series of men and women’s wristwatches that complement each other so perfectly. Some are ultra-thin while others are reinterpretations of Piaget models from the past. No matter your taste, you’re bound to find your happiness in the brand’s variety of new timepieces.

PIAGET ALTIPLANO CHRONOGRAPH

If you’re a fan of Piaget’s Altiplano line of ultra-thin watches, the new Altiplano will get your heart beating faster! The Altiplano Chronograph sets a new double record in ultra-thin watchmaking—the first for its incredibly thin case at 8.24mm thick and the second for its hand-wound flyback chronograph movement measuring just 4.65mm. Two versions of this elegant 41mm timepiece were presented during the SIHH, one in pink gold and the other in white gold set with 56 brilliant-cut diamonds.

Although the diamond version might seem quite big for a women’s watch, it fit my thin wrist so perfectly well. For all the details about these record-breaking timepieces, check out Revolution Online’s Martin Green’s article about the Altiplano Chronograph.

PIAGET ALTIPLANO GOLD BRACELET

If the big size of the Altiplano Chronograph doesn’t suit your wrist, the Altiplano Gold Bracelet might be the perfect choice! Available in 34mm or 38mm, the Altiplano Gold Bracelet comes in six different versions crafted entirely out of white gold or rose gold, from the case all the way to the bracelet. The white gold versions feature bezels studded with brilliant-cut diamonds, while the rose gold models are available with or without diamonds.

Powered by the mechanical self-winding movement 534P, the Altiplano Gold Bracelet highlights all the features we have come to know and love from the collection, such as its pure dial design, ultra-thin double and single baton-type hour-markers and slim hour-and-minute hands. This is the first time in Piaget’s history that the Altiplano features a gold bracelet instead of leather and we absolutely love the glamorous and chic touch it brings to the collection.

PIAGET VINTAGE PIECES

Piaget Black Tie Inspiration

Besides ultra-thin watches, Piaget also unveiled two timepieces inspired by the 1960s that are just as noteworthy and attractive. The 1960s was an era marked by a free-spirited and non-conformist way of thinking, with artists and designers working with bold materials, daring colors and unusual shapes. Piaget became one of the leading brands during this period thanks to its savoir-faire in watchmaking and jewelry making, its creations quickly becoming favorites of the elite, such as Jacky Kennedy and Andy Warhol.Piaget Traditional Oval

This year’s SIHH sees the return of two 1960s timepieces in particular—the Black Tie “Vintage Inspiration”, inspired by one of Andy Warhol’s Piaget timepieces, and the Traditional Oval, recalling one of Jacky Kennedy’s favorite wristwatches. For a full coverage about these pieces, read Martin Green’s article here.

With so many appealing timepieces this year, Piaget is successfully catering to the watchmaking dreams of men and women alike. For all the men who want to treat themselves to a new timepiece this year, there’s no excuse not to surprise the woman in their life with a stunning wristwatch of their own too!
