SIHH 2016 Roundup: Baume & Mercier

Share
Last year, Baume & Mercier celebrated its 185th anniversary with a range of timepieces that focused on honoring special milestones in life — such as celebrating a graduation, a first job, getting married or having a baby. In 2016, the brand continues the trend by introducing new wristwatches for those looking for something special to honor these unique moments.

Baume & Mercier’s Clifton collection welcomes a new model this year while perpetuating the collection’s classic and pure design. The new Clifton Chronograph Complete Calendar combines a complete calendar, a moonphase and a chronograph in a refined 43mm case. The white dial is elegantly designed, featuring the day-and-month indicator at 12 o’clock, the day/night indicator at nine o’clock, the moonphase at six o’clock, and two chronograph counters at six o’clock and 12 o’clock respectively. A thin hand with a red tip points to the corresponding day indicated around the dial, while a second thin blue hand marks the seconds. Powered by the automatic caliber Valjoux 7751, this chronograph is a great choice for those looking for a sporty dress watch with a Swiss movement beating at its heart.

Also new in the men’s collections are two limited-edition Capeland Shelby® Cobra chronographs, which follow the commercial success of the first models launched last year in partnership with the sports car manufacturer Carroll Shelby Inc. These new special editions commemorate the Cobra CSX2128 racing car, which won the grueling 12 Hours of Sebring race for the first time back in 1963. Several details evoke the Cobra, such as the black dial decorated with two horizontal racing stripes, the subdials designed as the car’s dashboard and the seconds hand bearing the car’s famous cobra emblem. Available in steel with or without an ADLC coating, the chronographs come with a black alligator-leather strap or a black vulcanized rubber strap, which is crafted out of the same material as the Cobra’s wheels.

Not one to disappoint the ladies, Baume & Mercier is also launching a fun and sparkly timepiece for women. Following the launch of the Promesse in 2014, the brand has chosen to revisit its signature oval-shaped design in a miniature and colorful format. The Petite Promesse is designed for today’s millennial generation and the young women looking for a feminine and playful wristwatch to wear from day to night. This 22cm timepiece is embellished with diamonds and comes with a stainless-steel bracelet, or a blue or orange leather strap. Both the bracelet and the strap wrap themselves twice around the wrist, making the Petite Promesse a trendy and chic timepiece.

From the elegant and classic to the sporty and fun, there’s something special for everyone at Baume & Mercier this year.
