I have to say, I was speaking to a colleague of mine from our sister publication, The Rake before flying out to Geneva. And he requested I spend some time at Girard Perregaux, as he felt strongly it was the most under appreciated watch brand around. And I have to say, he maybe onto something. GP have been busy. And certainly their new launch for SIHH 2017 was something uber modern.
Inside the Neo-Bridges automatic titanium you have the new GP08400 self-winding 14 ¼-ligne movement with micro-rotor. The case is 45 mm-diameter and made in rugged titanium, and water-resistant to 30 metres, fitted with a black alligator leather strap secured by a titanium triple folding clasp. This movement features a micro-rotor along the same axis as the barrel drum ensuring a 50-hour power reserve. If you look carefully enough, you’ll appreciate the NAC treatment of the mainplate, and a PVD coating on the delicately curved bridges. One to check out in the metal should you get the chance.
