The focus at Montblanc’s SIHH stand was the latest additions to the 1858 Collection. The 1858 watches continue in their celebration of the great outdoors and the booth itself is a reminder of the inspiration taken from nature and exploration, featuring its own mountain, a lake and alpine foliage, among which nestles a timeline, denoting the milestones in the history of Minerva. The timepieces themselves, which range from the simple to the show-stopping, follow a trend emerging among other brands – most notably IWC – with the introduction of three models in bronze cases with khaki dials and khaki-coloured NATO-style straps. All are water-resistant to 100m and feature bronze-coated titanium casebacks engraved with a unique “Spirit of Mountain Exploration” design. Each one has been made in a limited run of 1,858 examples and the pieces certified by the Montblanc Laboratory Test 500.
