Watch Windows on the World

For the next three-and-a-half weeks, Harrods will promote fine watchmaking through an exhibition of timepieces created by some of its key fine watch brands. This latest event in the store’s annual summer watch fest celebrates historical timepieces from the brand’s archives. All of the watches presented are either limited editions or Harrods exclusives. Wathes on display include:

Audemars Piguet Skeleton Tourbillon Offshore Yellow Gold

The jewel in AP’s crown, the Royal Oak was launched in 1972 and joined by its big brother, the Offshore, in 1993. This version, exclusive to Harrods throughout July, allows the movement to be seen through the openworked dial and has been created in this year’s metal of choice: yellow gold.

JCartier Panthère Joueuse Calibre 9918 MC

This limited edition of just two pieces will be available exclusively from Harrods during July. A symbol of the maison since 1914, the iconic cat here unites haute joaillerie and haute horlogerie, with a diamond encrusted panther cub chasing a ball around the dial – his toy indicating the hours while his paw shows the minutes.

Harry Winston Premier Precious Lace Automatic 36mm

Exclusive to Harrods, these five watches have been created in tribute to Harry Winston’s very forst watch collection from 1989. These versions of the Premier depict delicate lace through a combination of green and white etched mother-of-pearl and diamonds.

Hublot Classic Fusion Racing Greys

Three limited edition versions of a Hublot Classic Fusion have been created exclusively for the exhibition. The Racing Grey, the Chronograph Racing Grey and the Racing Grey Diamonds all draw influence from Hublots of the 1980s and feature grey sunray satin-finished dials and titanium cases.

IWC Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII – Heritage 40

This new limited-edition Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII takes inspiration from the IWC’s legendary Mark XI and boasts an antimagnetic soft-iron inner case and a sapphire built to withstand pressure changes. Just 1948 examples have been made and will be sold exclusively through Harrods until September.

Jaeger-LeCoultre High Jewellery Reverso

Just five pieces of this stunning jewellery watch have been made and all will be sold through Harrods. The heritage of the piece is well-known – a 1931 design, the rectangular case can be flipped for protection or to allow a second dial. Classic, elegant and enduring, this is a piece that will never go out of style.

Panerai Luminor Marina 1950 3 Days Automatic Titanio

Launched in 1950, the Luminor was Panerai’s second design for a professional dive watch, with a similar aesthetic to the original, save for the additional crown-protecting bridge to increase the watch’s water resistance. The Harrods edition of 100 pieces has a brushed and polished titanium case and bracelet.

Richard Mille RM 50-03 McLaren F1

Made in collaboration with McLaren F1, the RM 50-03 features a tourbillon and a split seconds chronograph. Using the latest high tech materials, this is the world’s lightet mechanical chronograph and weighs t less than 40 grams. The 75 pieces are available through Harrods and Richard mille boutiques.

Roger Dubuis Knights of the Round Table III

Sure to raise a smile whenever seen, this unique piece has been created in homage to Roger Dubuis’ 2005 Excalibur collection and the mythological King Arthur – head of Camelot and the Knights of the Round Table. The self-winding watch depicts both the table and its occupants in jade and bronze.

Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Day-Date & Power Reserve and Traditionnelle Date

The name of these watches says it all. The pieces are as traditional as they come – slim, elegant and achingly gorgeous. Just six pieces of each Vacheron Constantin Traditionelle will be released in July, available exclusively through Harrods.
