The sport, held once every four every years since its beginning in 1990, features the ‘Final Four’ competition which is an advanced segment that requires competitors to clear a series of ten hurdles. This year, the finalists from The Netherlands, France, USA and Sweden ranked in first, second, third and fourth place respectively. Dubbeldam, the Olympic champion at the Sydney Games in 2000, edged Patrice Delaveau of France by a point.

Since their partnership with equestrian sports in 2002, Rolex rewards champion riders for each show in succession.

In his achievement, the Dutch champion received his very own Rolex GMT Master II, presented to him by Philippe Schaener, CEO of Rolex France. First unveiled in 2005, the Oyster Perpetual GMT-II features a rotatable 24-hour cerachrom bezel and a separate 24-hour hand which allows the wearer to read three different time-zones. The 40-mm dial is available in three versions either in full steel, steel and yellow gold, or full yellow gold.
