All Wound Up on the West Coast

For the first time, the Wind-Up consumer show takes on the Golden State, May 18-20, 2018.

Worn & Wound’s Wind-Up has been growing in popularity as a consumer watch show. Last year’s New York City show, the third iteration, drew more than 15,000 people for its three days in October 2017, and now for the first time ever, Worn and Wound will host a show in San Francisco next week, from May 18, 2018 – May 20, 2018.

27 watch and accessory brands will exhibit at Wind-Up San Francisco, including Tockr, Formex, Mühle-Glashütte, Oris, REC, Vortic, Bravur and more.

Consumer watch shows like Wind-Up are a great way for lesser-known brands to get in front of potential customers and spread the good word about watches.

“Since launching Wind-Up in 2015, there has been an overwhelming demand from Worn & Wound readers and watch brands alike for more events in markets outside of New York City”, said Blake Malin, co-founder of Worn & Wound and Wind-Up. “We’re excited to be featuring several brands that are new to Wind-Up, alongside several of our recurring partners, like Oris.”

Two of the key exhibiting brands are Tockr and Formex, and both brands are excited about the possibilities of the new California-based show.

“The show is a great opportunity to present our new models to the people that really matter: the final consumer,” says Raphaël Granito, president, Formex. “Since it’s not a trade show, the focus is on connecting the brands with existing and potential customers, which allows us to represent our brand to the people we really care about. Worn and Wound is all about value driven watches, which fits the bill really with Formex, as we were able to greatly improve our value game since we switched to a direct-to-consumer business model and effectively eliminated our retailer margins.”

Tockr, which is based in Austin, TX, has already had a great deal of success in the USA, and hopes the Wind-Up show in California will spur that even further.

“Tockr debuted at the Windup watch fair in NYC in October 2017,” says Austin Ivey, founder, Tockr. “This year Worn and Wound will bring the popular fair to San Francisco from May 18-20 where Tockr will display its popular C-47 and Air-Defender collections updated with new dials and exclusive straps designed by HIX Design. The fair is attended by some of the most popular small to mid-size brands and is an important place to reach existing and new customers and collaborate with some of the best minds in the industry.”

The Wind-Up Show is a great way to see some fantastic brands up close and personal.
